Accommodation & Facilities

The main courtyard at GroupgīteWe're based at 'Group Gite', a converted longère or long house in the small hamlet of La Daviais. The main guest house consists of a former farmhouse and barn which were converted into one building some time ago. With the exception of Room 5, the accommodation is based on shared rooms:

The Dormitory
The large 'Dorm' has bunks and single beds for up to ten (sorry, gent's only!)
To ensure you get a decent night's sleep, we now provide ear plugs for all those who book a bed in the dormitory!
Camping
Should you wish to camp, there's plenty of room in the garden with easy access to the shower block.

We offer you a choice of room wherever possible, but these are reserved on a First Come, First Served basis for each Weekend or Special Event. Following suggestions from some of our guests, the cost per person for a bed in any of the Double Bed rooms, the Twin Bedded Room and the Single Room is the same; a bed in The Dormitory is a bit cheaper. Camping is, of course cheaper still. See the Tours, Events & Costs page for the costs per person for each room for each Weekend or Special Event.

The PoolThe large Club Room features comfy chairs and sofas, UK satellite TV, a DVD (we've got an extensive collection of films, including many of the 'Classic Biking Films' you promised yourself you'd watch one day, a CD/.mp3 player (we've got music to suit most tastes(!), and a bar with a fridge (stocked with beers and wines for when you arrive!) as well as a pool table and the very popular pull-down Scalextric Digital racing track...! There's a door off the Club Room to the Annexe which contains a shower/toilet block as well as a Utility Room with washing and drying facilities. The second door through the Annexe leads out to the pool area which features our rather wonderful 8m x 4m swimming pool. The whole area features loads of sun loungers and chairs and is situated in a natural sun trap. If you like to sit by the pool but prefer being 'in the shade', there's also a small open sided barn here.

Back in the house, the French doors from the Club Room open on to a patio area with 'beer garden' type tables and benches as well as a large barbecue. The third door from the Club Room takes you through to the adjoining Dining Room and then through to the Kitchen/Breakfast Room which, as well as the expected oak table and chairs also features another UK satellite TV.

Yes, there's a Wi-Fi signal available in the house...

Proper Food! There is a large area for bikes in front of the house and the garage/barn which is locked at night provides secure overnight parking for up to around twelve bikes. There's also a second parking area with ground locks sunk into the concrete surface with space for up to sixteen bikes, over which we're hoping to be able to build a second garage in the not-too-distant-future. The garden (which backs on to a field upon which our neighbour grazes his cows in the summer) has a couple of seats as well as a massive trampoline if you're feeling that energetic...!

Please note that JtheB's is a no smoking establishment.
It is, however, permitted on the terrace and in the garden.
